FAQS

Find answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs) about the virtual job fair.

What is a virtual job fair?

A virtual job fair is an online event where organizations (employers) and job seekers meet in a virtual space (virtual booth), using video conferencing and chat boxes to exchange information about the organization and positions they are hiring for.

What is a virtual booth and what will happen when I visit one?

A “virtual booth” represents the meeting room in Zoom where you’ll be interacting with the organization assigned to the booth. Organizations are anticipated to host something similar to an information session where you would (a) learn information about the organization and their available positions; and (b) participate in a Question & Answer (Q&A) forum. To learn more about the virtual booth, read our Virtual Booth Guide (pdf).

What steps should I take to navigate this site?

  1. Check out the list of employers with virtual booths at our job fair and make a note of which booths you want to visit.

  2. Complete the registration form (by May 19) to sign up for the virtual booths your want to visit.

  3. Look through the resource events held on Monday, May 18 and Tuesday, May 19 and make a note of which events you want to attend.

  4. Complete the registration form (by May 19) to sign up for the resource events you want to attend.

  5. Check the resources section for even more resources to help you prepare for the fair!

I don't have access to the registration form.

Double check if you are logged into your hawaii.edu account. Only students, faculty, and staff with a hawaii.edu account can access the registration form. Just in case you need it, here's the link to register for the job fair and any of our resource events.

Where do I find the Zoom information for the job fair?

All Zoom info (links, meeting IDs, passwords, call in numbers) can be found in emails that are sent to you within 24 hours after you registered for the fair and/or any resource events. Just in case, please check your spam mail for these emails from uhccjco@hawaii.edu.

Can I visit two virtual booths in the same hour?

Yes, you may choose to visit up to two virtual booths in the same hour. However, please note, you can only be in one virtual booth at a time.

How do I go from one virtual booth to another in the same hour?

Please read the Virtual Booth Guide (pdf) section "Leaving the virtual booth" on how to do this.

I'm not familiar with Zoom. Can someone walk me through the features so I'm ready to use it for the fair?

Yes! UHCC organizers will be offering a tech support drop in session on Friday, May 15: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Feel free to drop in at any point if you have any questions about using Zoom or about your virtual booth experience. You can get the Zoom information for this event when you register for the virtual job fair.
