An event to challenge your job readiness skills and earn the chance to win a prize!

First Round

September 14 - September 15
 

Competitors submit a LinkedIn profile for judging in one of the following industry tracks:

(1) Environmental Sustainability or Technology

(2) Healthcare or Nonprofit

(3) Entrepreneurship

 

September 16


Top 5 competitors with the highest scores from each industry track will be notified and move on to the final round of the competition.

 

Final Round

September 30
1:30 pm - 2:30 pm HST
Online via Zoom

 

Competitors present a live 90 second elevator speech in response to the question: “Tell Me About Yourself.” Elevator speech will be done in a separate breakout room in front of two judges and no audience.

Winners will be announced during the Virtual Career Fair Keynote Speaker event.

Getting out of your comfort zone and putting yourself out there in a competition can be hard.

The It Factor Competition is an opportunity for you to build and strengthen your skills so that you can:

  • Achieve self-confidence

  • Encourage your classmates or friends to improve their own skills

Prizes

The following prizes (or item with equivalent value) will be awarded for the winners of each industry track:

First place - iPad

Second place - AirPods

Third place - Echo

Eligibility

 

Open to all current students (credit and non-credit) from Hawaiʻi CC, Honolulu CC, Kapiʻolani CC, Kauaʻi CC, Leeward CC, UH Maui College, Windward CC.

 

There are no costs to sign up or compete. 

To facilitate judging, competitors will need to choose to submit their LinkedIn profile/compete in one of the following categories: Environmental Sustainability, Technology, Healthcare, Nonprofit, Entrepreneurship.

In order to successfully participate, students must have access to the internet, laptop or desktop, microphone or other audio equipment.

You officially sign up by submitting your LinkedIn profile here [link will not be enabled until the submission period starts at 9:00 am HST on Tuesday, September 14].

 

The deadline to submit your LinkedIn profile will be 11:59 pm HST on Wednesday, September 15.
